Jacob Hamblin Arch
NABSQNO 12S 496181 – 4141359
Jacob Hamblin Arch, also known as Lobo Arch, is actually a natural bridge. This massive bridge spans Coyote Creek which flows through Coyote Canyon now part of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. Lobo Arch was named by cowboys after a wolf who was the lone survivor of a pack of wolves. However, after the arch was given much publicity by National Geographic magazine the name Jacob Hamblin Arch is more commonly used.
Jacob Hamblin was a famous Mormon scout, missionary and explorer who may not have seen the bridge.
The bridge has a span of 102 ft and a height of 80 ft.
