Burnet County. The arch is located at the entrance to the caves at Longhorn Caverns State Park near to the town of Burnet. The arch is named after the outlaw Sam Bass who is believed to have used the caves as a hideout and is rumoured to have buried a large amount of loot there, so far nothing has been found.

There are five openings the largest of which has a span of 20 ft and a height of 20 ft.
