Crete. One of Crete's most famous geological features is the Samarias Canyon or Gorge. It is situated on the south coast in the west part of the island. It ends at Agia Roumeli which is only accessible by boat.  Near to the entrance to the gorge is a trail that leads to the summit of Gigilos, one of the peaks of the White Mountains. After a steady climb the first part of the trail levels off and then descends before passing through this arch.

It has a span of 29 ft and a height of about 24 ft.
