Dorset. Ninety five miles of England's south coast stretching from East Devon to Dorset is a World Heritage site known as The Jurassic Coast as it covers three geological time Periods, Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous. Here, the bones of many long extinct creatures have been found and are still being found today. Along this coastline at Lulworth Cove, is the UK's most well known natural arch - Durdle Door and although privately owned by the Lulworth Estate is open to the public. Durdle Door Beach is one of the most popular in the area. The name Durdle derives from the Old English thirl meaning to pierce.

The arch has a span of about 43 ft and a height of about 33 ft.
